Local SEO services, for the three in four nobody names.

Local SEO services for UK small businesses whose customers search with a place name: the Google Business Profile, the reviews, the directory each AI engine actually reads, and a site that says what you do and where in its first sentence. From £500 a month, rolling, cancel any month. I counted 1,253 Suffolk firms against what ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode recommend. 76% were never named. This is the work that moves a business into the rest.

What local SEO includes here.

  • Google Business ProfileCategories, services, service area, opening hours, photos of the actual premises and people, posts, and the Q&A answered before a stranger answers it for you. Set up properly once, then kept current every month, because Google AI Mode reads the profile before it reads the site.
  • Reviews, by volumeThe named firms in every sector I counted carry several times the Google reviews of the rest. A 4.9 with eleven reviews loses to a 4.6 with two hundred. You get a way of asking that customers actually use, a reply to every review in your voice, and a monthly count.
  • The directory that mattersChatGPT does not browse the map. It reads a directory, and which one depends on the sector: the professional body for accountants and architects, a trade register for IT support. Getting listed in the one your engine trusts, with the same name, address and phone as everywhere else, is a month-one job.
  • Service pages that say whereOne page per service you sell, not one per town, with what you do and where you do it in the first sentence, the questions people ask answered underneath, and LocalBusiness schema that matches. Existing pages are rewritten before anything new is added.
  • Local linksThe chamber, the trade body, suppliers, the local paper, the sponsorship you already pay for and never got a link from. Earned where they can be, bought openly out of the fee where a placement on a real local site is worth it, and named in the report.
  • The technical sweepSpeed, Core Web Vitals, crawl errors, structured data, sitemap, llms.txt. Fixed in the month. A slow site does not rank locally either.
  • MeasurementMap-pack position for the searches that matter, Search Console queries with a place name in them, review count, and the same panel of buyer prompts run against ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode every month. One page, plain English.
  • Not includedPages for every town in the county, bought or invented reviews, paid ads, and any promise of the map pack by a date.

What decided who got named. Counted, not guessed.

In September 2026 I asked ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode for the best accountants, solicitors, recruiters, IT support firms, architects and estate agents in Suffolk, 120 times per sector, and matched every firm they named against every firm on Google Maps.304 of 1,253 were ever named. In IT support companies, five firms took 75% of everything AI Mode said.

The named firms had three things in common, and none of them was a bigger marketing budget. Review volume, not rating. A listing in the one directory their sector's engine reads. And a website whose first sentence says what they do and where. Those three things are the service on this page. The rest of the month is making sure they stay true.

One month, pointed at the map.

Local SEO is not a separate product here with its own price list. It is the same month asthe SEO service, scoped for a business whose customers search with a place name: more of the month goes on the profile, the reviews and the directories, and the pages are written to say where. The figure is set on the call and written down before the first month. How the pricing works.

Month one is the profile, the directory and the first review system. Month two is the service pages and the technical sweep. From month three the report starts showing you which of the three levers is moving, and the month is spent on that one.

Questions people ask about local SEO.

How much should I pay for local SEO?For a single-location service business in an ordinary market, £500 a month buys the whole job from me: the Google Business Profile kept current, a review system, the directory listings that matter, the service pages, local links and a report. UK local SEO agencies commonly charge £300 to £1,500 a month; below £300 the work is usually software and a PDF. More than one location, or a crowded city market, costs more and is scoped on the call.
What are good local SEO services in the UK, and how do I tell?Ask three things. Who does the work, and will you speak to them. What exactly changes in month one, on the profile, on the site and in the directories, in a written list. And how it is measured: map-pack position and Search Console queries by place name are checkable; a ranking screenshot for a keyword nobody types is not. Anyone who will not put a number on the second and third question is selling the report.
What does local SEO include here?Google Business Profile set up properly and kept current, a way of asking for reviews that clients actually use, a listing in the one directory your sector's AI engine reads plus consistent name, address and phone everywhere else, one page per service that says what and where in its first sentence, local links earned and bought, LocalBusiness schema, and the same panel of buyer prompts run every month so you can see whether the AI answers name you.
How long does local SEO take?Profile and directory changes show in the map results in two to eight weeks. New service pages typically take six to twelve weeks to settle in Google, and longer to be picked up by AI answers. Reviews compound from the first month. Anyone promising the map pack in a fortnight is either lying or you are already nearly there.
Do I need a page for every town I cover? No, and I will not build them. A page per town with the town name swapped is the kind of thing Google has spent years learning to ignore. You need one page per service that says where you work, a profile with the right service area, and reviews from customers in the places you want. If you genuinely serve two very different areas from two premises, that is two real pages, and we talk about it on the call.
Does local SEO work for ChatGPT and Google's AI answers? It is most of what works. I counted every firm in six Suffolk sectors against what ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode recommend. The named firms had several times the Google reviews of the rest, a listing in the directory the engine reads, and a site that said what they do and where in the first sentence. Those three things are local SEO. The rest is measurement.
Are you only for Ipswich and Suffolk? No. I am in Ipswich and the study was Suffolk because that is where I could count every firm. The work is the same for a plumber in Leeds or a clinic in Bristol, and I have never needed to be in the room for it. The first call is on video either way.
Do I need a new website first?Only if the current one cannot be edited or is too slow to rank, and I will tell you on the first call rather than a month in. A site on a platform I cannot deploy to is the one thing that stops the technical work. Run the free audit before we speak and the answer is usually on the first screen.
