SEO pricing, with the number in it.
SEO packages in the UK run from £99 a month to several thousand, and most pricing pages make you book a call to find out which. Mine is from £500 a month for a small site in an ordinary market, rolling, cancelled by email, with the figure written down before the first month. This page is what it buys, what makes it cost more, what cheaper actually gets you, and what the rest of the market charges.

What £500 a month buys.
- Content pagesPages that answer the questions your buyers type, written to be read by people and quoted by machines. The number a month is set on the call and written in the scope: a local trade needs fewer than a firm in a crowded market. Not a quota of 500-word posts.
- LinksThe pages are written to earn links on their own. Where a paid placement on a relevant, real site is worth it, it is bought out of the month's fee and named in the report. No farms, no networks, nothing I would not show you.
- The technical sweepCore Web Vitals, crawl errors, broken links, redirects, structured data, sitemap, robots, llms.txt. Fixed in the month, not listed in a PDF for you to fix.
- The AI-visibility layerAnswer-first structure, FAQ and article schema, named authorship, facts that are easy to cite, and a repeated set of buyer prompts run each month so you can see whether ChatGPT and Google's AI name you.
- Existing pages firstAnything already on page two gets its title, opening and internal links rewritten before anything new is published. It is the cheapest traffic a site has.
- Search Console, watchedIndexing, coverage and query movement checked weekly. If Google stops indexing something, you hear it from me.
- The reportOne page. Clicks, impressions, position, what shipped, which links landed, what is next. Plain English, once a month. No dashboard to log in to.
- Not includedPaid ads, social media, and a promised ranking by a date. Anyone selling the last one is guessing with your money.
What makes a month cost more than £500.
Two things, and only two. The size of the site, because more pages need more upkeep and more of them need writing. And how crowded the market is, because in law, lettings, cosmetic dentistry or anything with "London" in the search, the firms above you are buying links every month and a page on its own will not move.
Neither is a tier. I look at the site and the search results on the call, say what the month needs and what that costs, and write it down. If the honest answer is that the market is too crowded for the budget, I say that too. The refund guarantee on the website sprint does not apply here, because nobody can guarantee a ranking; the rolling month is the guarantee instead. Stop when the report stops earning the next one.
What a month includes, in detailWhat SEO costs in the UK, side by side.
Ranges are the ones UK freelancers publish and Google's AI Overview currently quotes for "freelance SEO consultant": monthly retainers of £300 to £1,200 for small local businesses, £2,000 to £5,000 for larger or competitive projects, and £120 to £250 an hour. They are a market snapshot, not a quote.
Cheap SEO packages exist. Here is what they buy.
Search "affordable SEO packages" and you will find £99, £149 and £199 a month. They are real, and they are cheap for a reason: the work is done by software or by nobody senior, the links come from a network the seller owns, and the deliverable is the report. Some of it is harmless. Some of it, the networked links in particular, is the kind of thing Google spends its year learning to ignore, and occasionally to punish.
£500 is not a premium price. It is roughly the floor at which one competent person can research and write a page, buy a placement worth having, fix what the audit found, and still read your Search Console every week. Below it, something on that list is not happening.
If £500 a month is more than the business can justify right now, that is a fair answer and there is a cheaper route: run the free audit, fix the three things it puts at the top, and get the foundations right in the site itself. A month of SEO on a slow, thin site is the worst-value month there is.
