Will migrating my website hurt my SEO?

It can, if it is done carelessly: pages that rank get new addresses, or lose their titles and wording, and the traffic goes with them. A migration here is like for like, so nothing about the site changes except where it lives. I do not promise rankings, and nobody honest does.

Sitemap submission and watching Search Console after the move are part of the SEO package.

£1,000, paid up front, for up to about seven pages, the same as any build. Bigger sites cost more, because they take more sprints, and you see the number before you pay.

How long does a website migration take?

The week, day by day

It runs as a one-week sprint, the same as a build. The switch to the new site only happens when I am certain there will be no issues, so your old site stays live until then. Before the brief, run the free audit on your current site so you and I both know what is actually broken. It takes about a minute and needs no email.

Can I move my website off WordPress, Wix or Squarespace?

Yes. I move the site onto custom code or Webflow, whichever suits you, and I do not build on WordPress, Wix or Squarespace. Your domain stays at your own registrar.

Custom code is the fastest site, and you own the code, the hosting project and the domain. Webflow suits you if you want to edit pages yourself.

Want changes or a new design as well? That is website redesign. A migration moves the site exactly as it is.

Questions people ask before a website migration.

Will my site look the same after the move? Yes. A migration is like for like: the same pages, wording and look, on a build you own. If you want tweaks or a new design, that is a redesign.
Can I change a few things during the move? Not as part of a migration. Changes belong to a redesign, so the move stays simple and the old and new sites can be compared line for line.
Will my site go down during the move? No. Your old site stays live until I am certain the new one has no problems, and then I switch over.
Do I keep my domain? Yes. The domain stays at your own registrar.
What happens to my plugins? Plugins, apps and themes that belong to WordPress, Wix or Squarespace only work there, so they do not move. If something on a page depends on one, a contact form for example, I rebuild it in code.
What if my site is bigger than seven pages? It is scoped on the call as more sprints, and you see the number before you pay.
Can you migrate an online shop? No. A shop belongs on Shopify with a Shopify developer.
Which platforms can you move me off? WordPress, Wix and Squarespace. I have not worked with GoDaddy, Weebly or other builders, so I do not take those on.
