Website pricing, with the number in it.

A bespoke website in the UK is quoted anywhere from £300 to £25,000 and most of the people quoting make you book a call to find out which. Mine is £1,000 a sprint, paid once, with the site live seven days after the brief. This page is what the sprint includes, what pushes a site into a second one, what it costs to run afterwards, and what the rest of the market charges for the same thing.

One sprint. Most sites need one.

What £1,000 buys.

  • The briefA 30-minute call on the Tuesday and a one-page written brief you sign off the same day. Goals, audience, pages, voice, what done looks like. Nothing starts until it is agreed.
  • Bespoke designDesigned from a blank page for your business, not a theme with your logo dropped in. Key frames on Wednesday, every page signed off on Thursday.
  • The build, two waysCustom code in Astro or Next.js for the fastest pages and a repository in your name, or Webflow if you want to edit pages visually yourself. Same week, same price. No WordPress, no plugins to patch. Which to pick.
  • The standardsLighthouse 95 or higher across all four categories on mobile. Core Web Vitals green. WCAG 2.2 AA. Structured data, sitemap, llms.txt, analytics with consent. On every build.
  • Copy polishingYou bring the substance, I tighten the wording and put it in the order a visitor reads. Copy written from nothing is not in the sprint.
  • One round of revisionsBuilt into Saturday. Wording, images, order of sections. Scope that would break the week rolls into a further sprint at a fresh quote, agreed first.
  • Launch and handoverLive on your domain on the Tuesday. A custom build goes to your GitHub with hosting in your name; a Webflow build lives in my Webflow workspace on your plan, transferred to you on request. The domain at your registrar, a short written guide, and a call if you want one.
  • Not includedPhotography, copywriting from scratch, and the domain, which you pay your registrar directly. No stock imagery, ever.

What pushes a site into a second sprint.

A sprint is seven days of one person's work, so the price is really a question of how much site fits in a week. Home, services, about, work, contact and a page or two of writing fit comfortably. A site that also needs a small shop with Stripe Checkout, a calculator or a quiz, a members area, or a dozen service pages each with its own case study does not, and pretending it does is how agencies end up three months late.

So on the discovery call I scope the site, say how many sprints it needs, and quote a fixed total before you pay. Each sprint still runs Tuesday to Tuesday with a staging link from the first week, and the refund guarantee applies to the final live date we agree in writing. Three or more sprints covers e-commerce, membership and multi-location, quoted after the call, never guessed.

Ranges are the quotes clients show me and the rate cards UK freelancers and agencies publish, read in September 2026. A studio sits between the two at £1,000 to £5,000. Doing it yourself on Squarespace or Wix is £9 to £29 a month plus 20 to 60 hours, and you never own the site. The full picture, by site type and who builds it, is in the cost guide, with an estimator for your own site.

What it costs to run after launch.

On a custom build, nothing unless you choose otherwise. A static site in Astro or Next.js has no server to pay for and no plugins to patch, so hosting is free and stays free. The domain is the only recurring cost: £10 to £15 a year, paid to your own registrar, in your name. Email on your own domain is free with forwarding or £71 a year per person on Google Workspace.

On a Webflow build you pay Webflow for the site plan, directly, with your own card, not through me: Basic from $15 a month, or Premium from $25 a month if the site needs the CMS or code components, billed yearly, in US dollars plus tax. That is the price of editing the pages yourself, and I say so on the call before you choose.

If you want changes made each month, that is £99 a month, cancellable, and it is the only monthly thing I sell alongside a site. Anything bigger is a further sprint at a fresh quote. Because the code is standard, or the Webflow site moves to your own workspace whenever you ask, any developer can work on it; nothing is locked to me.

Questions people ask before paying for a site.

How much does a website cost with you?£1,000 for one sprint, which is a bespoke site of up to about seven pages, custom-coded or built in Webflow, briefed on a Tuesday and live the following Tuesday. Paid in full before work starts. If the site needs more than one sprint, you hear the number of sprints and the total on the discovery call, in writing, before you pay anything.
Is it safe to pay for a sprint upfront?Payment is by bank transfer or Stripe invoice, in full, before the sprint starts. The refund guarantee is the safety mechanism: not live on the agreed day, for any reason on my side, 100% back within 48 hours. No deposits, no milestone gating, no small print.
What does "from £1,000" mean?£1,000 is one sprint. Most five-to-seven-page service-business sites fit in one. A site with a small shop, a calculator, a members area or a dozen service pages needs two or three, each Tuesday to Tuesday, and the total is fixed before the first one starts. It is never £1,000 and then a surprise.
Are there any monthly fees?None to me. On a custom build hosting is free on the plan I set you up on. On a Webflow build you pay Webflow for the site plan directly, from $15 a month, billed yearly, in US dollars plus tax. The domain is yours, paid to your registrar, about £10 to £15 a year. If you want changes made each month after launch, that is £99 a month, and it is optional and cancellable.
What is not included in the £1,000?Photography, copywriting from scratch, and the domain. Copy polishing is included: you bring the substance, I tighten it. Photos have to be real, yours or commissioned, because no stock imagery goes on a bespoke build. Anything that would break the week rolls into a further sprint at a fresh quote, agreed first.
How much does a website cost in the UK in 2026?For a five-to-seven-page bespoke site: £300 to £2,000 from a freelancer, £1,000 to £5,000 from a solo or small studio, £8,000 to £15,000 from an agency over eight to twelve weeks. Doing it yourself on Squarespace or Wix is £9 to £29 a month plus 20 to 60 hours of your time, and you never own it. The full breakdown, with an estimator for your own site, is in the cost guide.
Is £1,000 fair for a website? For a small business with one decision-maker, £1,000 to £3,000 is the fair band for a bespoke site that passes Core Web Vitals and accessibility checks and sits in your name, custom-coded or built properly in Webflow. Below £500 you are usually buying a template or a builder export with no thought given to what converts. Above £8,000 you are usually paying for people who never touch the work.
Do you charge VAT?Not currently. I am a UK sole trader below the VAT threshold, so the prices on this page are the prices you pay.
Website pricing

£1,000 a sprint. The total before you pay.

The call is free. I ask what the site needs to do, say how many sprints that is, and give you the number in writing. If a template would do the job, I say that instead.
